Pandemic Ventilator

A recent project was to produce a low cost and easy to manufacture ventilator for COVID-19 patients. The resulting product could be made for under $100 at full retail prices, and for under $20 including components that could easily be salvaged or were already available at all medical facilities. A single person with basic tools (a saw, screwdriver, and ideally a soldering iron) and limited skills could product multiple units per day.

Also a major goal was to produce a ventilator that would be safe for use on a patient. The final design includes adjustable ventilation rate, pressure, and tidal volume, along with a pressure relief valve.

Fortunately it appears the immediate need was unfounded, this was a fascinating project, and my first time working on a medical product.
